In Thanks for Breast Health
As we go off to celebrate Thanksgiving (some of us in faraway places!), we wanted to take a moment to share our thanks to our fantastic patients and dedicated co-workers. We have SO much for which we are thankful – we are truly blessed. Family and friends, rewarding jobs with terrific people, health and happiness – these are some of the things we’ll be thinking of tomorrow.
A little light-hearted reminder of breast health to go along with your turkey day preparations…
T: Trust your instincts – if something doesn’t feel right in your breast, talk to your doctor and get imaged – no matter your age!
U: Understand your risks for breast cancer – family history plays a role in only a small percentage of breast cancers (~10%!). If you have breasts you’re at risk!
R: Remind yourself and your loved ones to get screened!
K: Keep track of your breasts – do self breast exams monthly so you know when there’s a change.
E: Eat healthy (ok, indulge tomorrow) and exercise (a pre- or post- feast walk would be fab!).
Y: Yearly! That’s when to get your mammogram if you are over 40 (or earlier if you’re in a high-risk category).
To all our readers, patients and co-workers, enjoy a wonderful celebration of thanks!
